PATRICK GONZALES is a french artist, born 1965
before he worked with digital technology, he was exclusively painter
the UNTITLED series of 2007-09
comprises more abstract elements than his others typical digitals, those which show us his indivudual world of fairy-tales & surreal imaginations
in this series the works don't contain much narrative moments - the story seems to be absent
only here & there, between twilight & shadows, a minutely small hint of a story flash appears
outlines turn into figures, borders dissolve, the darkness becomes light, the brightness becomes black
i look like into dark corners & i want to fill & illuminate it with suppositions & curiosity of my own
my experience is like a search through a camera for a cinematic attitude:
blurred too sharp - overexposure to underexposure - reversal reflections
& it always remains fleeting, surrealistic & not repeatable
just magic!
