SUZANNE MARIE GORGAS is an american artist, born 1978
she is occupied with painting & installations, but she works also upon digital art

the SELF-PORTRAIT series of 2008
narrates to us first of all a story, an interior space, something like a glance in the mirror
as says the artist:
"...perhaps they are first that & second some under-the-breath-half-muttered comment on the state of picture making & the loss of film
in only a few of them does the subjects gaze meet the viewers, in even fewer is the portrait whole
the subject here does not meet the eyes of the artist, the “photographer”
the gaze is elsewhere, distracted, blank
the subject & the image taker are the same & this is conscious avoidance..."
